Everyone’s favorite Aussie and X-Men, Hugh Jackman was on Oprah recently. Since she’s pulling out the big guns for the final season of her show she flew her audience out to Australia and Hugh Jackman was there in all his muscular glory. The live show was taped at the Sydney Opera House when Jackman was due to make his grand entrance he slid down a cable from the top of the Sydney Opera House gliding onto an outdoor stage. The only thing was the actor lost control and couldn’t stop resulting in him crashing into the stages light rigging and hurting his face. “That was so much fun, until the end,” joked Jackman, famed for his tough Wolverine role. “I came down waving to everyone, looking over Sydney Harbour, saw my dad, the kids and you (Winfrey), went to pull the brake and then boing,” he told Oprah. This ain’t Hollywood anymore, Hugh.
It was certainly more than what the 302 members of the audience that were flown out specially for the show could have ever expected. The show was the effort of Oprah and the Australian Tourism Board, the country put in more than Aus$3million to make the show possible and to boost tourism. Yahoo reports: “Oprah in Australia producing two TV chat shows, with Australian guests such as Jackman, Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban and Olivia Newton John. Winfrey’s American guests have also filmed their travels around Australia to the Outback and the Great Barrier Reef. Their video journals will be part of the shows that will air later in the United States.”
