Triple Grand Slam winner Maria Sharapova has become engaged to her boyfriend, the Los Angeles Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic, after the proposed night on Tuesday at his Manhattan Beach, California home. The two had come nearly a year. TMZ was the first news reports. Sharapova’s agent has since confirmed that the CNBC’s Darren Rovello.
Sharapova and Sasha Vujacic first went public with their relationship in November last year, when they were seen cuddling at the U2 concert in Los Angeles. Since then, the relationship became fodder for tabloids and paparazzi, as athletes have been photographed together in Los Angeles and Italy, where the holiday.
This summer Vujacic Sharapova invited to join her in training at the IMG Academy in Florida. Backup guard for two-time defending champions credited his girlfriend, helping him prepare for the upcoming basketball season.
Neither should be worried about the inevitable question of whether a marriage will have a negative impact of their games. Vujacic averaged a career low in points, rebounds, assists and minutes with the Lakers, when Sharapova struggled in the Grand Slams and not fulfill the high expectations after her return from shoulder surgery.
